Joseph Masi details whether West Brom will make any more new signings today

West Brom will not make any more new signings today (Friday) even though they have until 5pm before the transfer window closes, according to Joseph Masi.

The Express & Star journalist has reported that Karlan Grant “will be the last player the club brings in this window” after a six-year deal was confirmed for the now-former Huddersfield striker on Thursday night.

Although Albion are not expected to sign any new players, there could be outgoings at The Hawthorns with Sheffield Wednesday still trying to sign striker Kenneth Zohore.

Telegraph journalist John Percy reported on Thursday that Nottingham Forest are also still in talks to sign Kamil Grosicki but it seems that Charlie Austin is set to stay at The Hawthorns – at least until January.

On Thursday, The Sun reported that Austin, 31, is open to a January move to the USA amid interest from MLS clubs.

Derby have reportedly tried to sign Austin but it is understood that proposed deal “looks dead in the water”.

It will be disappointing if West Brom don’t add to their squad before the 5pm EFL transfer deadline, especially after what we have seen from Slaven Bilic’s men in the opening weeks of the new Premier League season.

Since winning promotion, the priority has been to add a new centre-forward to the squad but in matches against Leicester, Everton and Chelsea, it became apparent that there were more issues in the squad.

West Brom’s centre-back options don’t look up to scratch while a new left-back is something that’s needed due to Kieran Gibbs’ lack of reliability.

It’s disappointing that no more deals will happen.

We’ll just have to hope that Bilic is confident he can keep this squad of players in the Premier League.
