Slaven Bilic has praised West Brom new recruits Branislav Ivanovic and 20-year-old Conor Gallagher after the 0-0 draw with Burnley on Monday.
The two new players made their first Premier League appearances for the Baggies after signing in the summer.
As quoted in the Express & Star Bilic said, “Ivanovic showed exactly why we wanted to sign him. Experience, shape, leadership, quality, calmness.
“Conor – even if this was his 50th game, I’d have said he did well. But considering this was his Premier League debut, he impressed me.
“Very brave, good skill, great legs, extremely front footed and reliable and responsible. He impressed me a lot, he should be very proud with his debut.”
West Brom 2.0
The new-look West Brom side that secured the second point of the season on Monday showed the way forward to concerned Baggies fans.
The jury might still be out on Karlan Grant but he was unlucky not to score on his debut.
We were expecting Ivanovic to come in and do a job. If he’d convinced Bilic that he was fit then we know how big a player he can be.
Gallagher’s debut was even more pleasing. He looked absolutely full of energy and he’s the sort of player that other sides will hate to come up against.
Gallagher has played in the Championship, with Swansea and Charlton on loan, but this was his top-flight bow for any club and he showed he absolutely deserves to play at this level.
We think that Gallagher will now become a regular starter under Bilic. It might be tougher to expect Ivanovic to play week-in, week-out.
