Highest-earning West Brom player set to bank Baggies £4million windfall – report
West Brom defender Ahmed Hegazi is on the verge of sealing his Hawthorns exit.
The Egyptian international is poised to join Saudi Arabian club Al-Ittihad, with the move being described as “life-changing.”
Goal SA reported earlier on Sunday afternoon that the move was set to be announced within a matter of hours, with his agent finalising the finer details.
The Mirror have reported that West Brom are set to bank £4million from the switch, despite it previously being described as a loan-to-buy move.
In the same report on their website, it is claimed that Hegazi is currently the highest-earning player at the Hawthorns, due to his overhanging deal from the previous spell in the Premier League.
The defender is currently on £70,000-a-week, and this move is said to increase that even further, something he is keen to do at this stage in his career.
With the deadline in Saudi Arabia for transfers on Sunday evening, this deal shouldn’t be kept secret for much longer at either end.
It still remains a strange deal.
Slaven Bilic claimed this week that the defender was going nowhere, and he even completed 90 minutes against Burnley on Monday.
Ultimately, it appears that money has spoken for the Baggies and Hegazi, with both parties set to receive a heap for completing this deal at this moment in time.
