View: West Brom must put end to unwanted 16-year stat against Brighton
West Brom travel to Brighton on Monday evening looking to earn their first Premier League win of the season.
The Baggies go to the AMEX Stadium on the back of their 0-0 draw against Burnley, which was also their first clean-sheet since promotion.
Slaven Bilic will have left the Hawthorns scratching his head, with the Baggies having the chances to beat the Clarets.
It means that the Albion haven’t won any of their opening five matches this season.
BBC Sport have shared that run is actually the longest winless start to a Premier League season for West Brom since 2004.
In that campaign, the Baggies actually failed to win any of their opening seven – something they must look to avoid against either Brighton or Fulham next week.
Another interesting stat highlighted was that Charlie Austin has scored seven in his last 10 outings against the Seagull – could he be an unlikely hero? We think not.
It is definitely an unwanted stat and one that Bilic will want to get rid off as soon as possible in the Premier League.
The Croatian claimed this week that once his new signings gel within the squad, they will start to pick up more wins – something that needs to happen quickly.
Luckily, the likes of Burnley, Sheffield United and Fulham are all struggling to pick up any kind of points – leaving the Baggies out of the bottom three.
Either way, we would love more breathing space with a win on Monday.
