View: Captain update on West Brom loanee is good news all round after injury scare
West Brom loanee Kenneth Zohore showed the good, the bad and the ugly as he scored his first Millwall goal on Wednesday evening.
The Danish forward got off the mark in the Lions’ 2-0 win at Preston but also hobbled off with a suspected injury at Deepdale in the second half.
It wasn’t those that saw him grab the headlines though, it was a shot which ended up hitting the corner-flag – that’s the Zohore we remember.
The suspected injury has seen some fans worried though, with the Baggies potentially fearing that his value may drop if out of action.
Millwall captain Alex Pearce has delivered a positive update though, claiming that it could just be cramp – something that is likely given his lack of action.
“I haven’t checked with the physio department yet,” he told London News.
“I think it might be cramp which would be understandable – he’s not had many minutes. I thought he put in brilliant effort in and that shows with him getting cramp but again a very positive night for Ken.”
Slaven Bilic will be watching Zohore closely in the next couple of months, with his loan move only going until January.
With the Baggies have little funds to make further signings in that period, a good couple of months for the Dane at Millwall could see him put himself in the shop window for a permanent move.
An early injury blow could have put an end to those hopes, but thankfully, Pearce’s update could give everyone peace of mind that he could be back soon.
Zohore is one of the higher-earners at the Hawthorns, despite his failure to impress, and getting him off the wage bill could depend on a good couple of months in the capital.
This update should give him that chance.
In other West Brom news, there is good chance that WBA will offload high-earner in Jan
