View: Quality of West Brom midfielder goes unnoticed by most
Filip Krovinovic was hailed as an unsung hero as West Brom drew 1-1 with Brighton on Monday after a string of solid performances.
The Croatian re-joined Slaven Bilic’s side this summer after helping to get Albion promoted to the Premier League last season.
Krovinovic has reaped the rewards of his accomplishments last season and can now call himself a fully-fledged Premier League player.
He has proven that he can make the step up from the Championship to England’s top flight and the stats show how impressive he has been for the Baggies so far this season.
Krovinovic has registered 89.9% passing accuracy in the league this season and his accuracy of passes to the final third and into the penalty area are 83.3% and 100% respectively as per Wyscout.
These stats show how vital the Croatian is at creating attacking moves for Albion and a great example of that is the huge role he played in moving the Baggies forward against Brighton.
The 25-year-old is also averaging 2.21 progressive runs per 90 minutes in the Premier League showing that he isn’t afraid to break forward and try to set the players in front of him away.
Krovinovic also isn’t afraid to get back and help out defensively. He has made eight defensive duels in his three Premier League appearances this term and has made four interceptions showing that he can be as important going forward as he can be at the back.
The reason the Benfica loanee is going under the radar this season is because he is yet to score or register an assist. This, however, isn’t through lack of trying. Against Brighton, he had two shots on target but neither could beat the keeper, so he is getting the opportunities to score but perhaps some he needs to work on his accuracy.
The stats show that Krovinovic is doing plenty right at West Brom since he rejoined the club, perhaps he just needs that first goal to make people realise how good he has been.
In other West Brom news, four Fulham players will miss Monday night’s game against the Baggies.
