‘I’m going to talk to him’ – Bilic will talk to West Brom ace who ‘wasn’t good enough’ v Fulham
West Brom boss Slaven Bilic has explained that he will be having a conversation with Matheus Pereira this week following his disappearance down the tunnel after being substituted off in Monday’s loss to Fulham.
Pereira was incredibly poor as his side lost to one of the few teams below them in the Premier League without putting up much of a fight.
Speaking to Birmingham Live, Bilic said that that Pereira wasn’t substituted because he was injured and that what he did was ‘not nice’.
Regarding Pereira heading straight down the tunnel, he said, “I didn’t see that. I was concentrating on the game. I noticed afterwards of course it’s not nice and I’m going to talk to him about that but we had more problems in the game.
“He wasn’t injured. He felt his back a bit and I saw him on the massage table this week in the last couple of days but there wasn’t even a question mark about it.
“It was a substitution because he wasn’t good enough. It’s not the reason that we lost.”
Pereira had a terrible game at Craven Cottage but the way he headed straight down the tunnel spoke volumes about the winger’s attitude.
On his day the 24-year-old can be Albion’s most influential player, his goal at Goodison Park showed the quality he possesses but he hasn’t quite shown it often enough his season unfortunately. Baggies fans will be hoping that Bilic’s conversation with Pereira can give the winger some motivation to find his best form ahead of some very tricky fixtures for his side.
West Brom welcome Tottenham Hotspur to The Hawthorns before they travel to Old Trafford after the international break. Based on Monday’s game Albion have very little chance of getting anything from these games which means it could be nearly December before the Baggies have another realistic chance at picking up a first league win of the season.
In other West Brom news, Bilic has claimed that only two Albion players showed enough commitment against Fulham.
