Jermaine Jenas shares verdict on West Brom after ‘Monster’ win for Spurs
West Brom agonisingly fell to a 1-0 defeat against Spurs on Sunday afternoon at the Hawthorns.
Many could argue that the Baggies deserved even more than the one point they were on their way to before Harry Kane’s last-gasp winner.
It was one moment of indecision from Sam Johnstone that has cost the Albion, although Slaven Bilic will be proud of his squad for their efforts.
Jermaine Jenas has shared his verdict on the game on his personal Twitter account, claiming that the Baggies deserved much more.
“Absolute monster of a win that,” he wrote. “West Brom didn’t deserve to lose but you just can’t stop the boy, Harry Kane.”
It only takes one chance for Kane, but the agonising part of that is the fact that West Brom managed to keep both him and Heung-Min Son quiet for 95% of the game.
Bilic and the Baggies will have learnt a valuable lesson in the Premier League after that one – if you don’t put your chances away, you will be punished.
This was a performance that proved that the squad are still fighting and playing for Bilic.
Reports suggested over the weekend that a heavy defeat could have spelled the end for the Croatian at the Hawthorns, but that is far from happening after today.
Bilic’s fired up press conference proved he was ready to fight, and that clearly worked as his weakened side fought from the first whistle to the last.
Jenas is spot on, this wasn’t deserved and that first win of the season must be around the corner soon.
