Jose Mourinho reacts to West Brom & Slaven Bilic doubters after Sunday clash

Jose Mourinho has heaped praise on West Brom after they fell to a 1-0 defeat against Spurs on Sunday.

The result means that the Baggies are still looking for their first win in the Premier League this season, although you couldn’t tell that from this outing.

Mourinho claimed that the Albion’s defensive strength forced Spurs to change their tactics as they couldn’t find space at the Hawthorns.

The Portuguese icon shared his verdict on the Baggies, delivering a message for those questioning whether or not they are playing for Slaven Bilic.

“The performance, I would start by talking about West Bromwich’s performance,” he told Birmingham Live.

“They made us play in the way we did. Defensively they played very well. When I read Slaven’s press conference pre-match, I knew their team would be there for him to give us a difficult match. They gave us a very good match.”

Reports from the Mirror had suggested that a heavy defeat against Spurs would have spelt the end for Bilic.

West Brom answered those critics and not only deserved a point, you could have argued that they should have taken all three at the Hawthorns.

To keep the dangerous three of Harry Kane, Heung-Min Son and Gareth Bale quiet for the entire game apart from one avoidable moment proved that the Baggies are ready for the fight.

Based on this performance, the first win of the season will be around the corner and fingers crossed that it will be Bilic on the touchline for that – Mourinho clearly agrees.
