Slaven Bilic delivers verdict on West Brom defeat v Tottenham

Slaven Bilic claims West Brom were ‘crazy in a positive way’ after losing late on against Tottenham Hotspur on Sunday.

A last-ditch Harry Kane header saw Spurs claim all three points after a much improved Albion side put in a performance that was more than worth a point.

Speaking to Sky Sports after the game, Bilic said that if his side can recreate the performance they gave against Spurs then they can beat ‘less quality teams’.

He said, “Every game is an opportunity and we showed that today. This is a bonus game, let’s be honest and in a bonus game you still have to be lucky with the top performers to score a goal, or for them to miss that chance that they have.

“But if we play like this, if we are so brave, if we are so determined and so committed, that’s why I used the word crazy last time, today we were crazy in a positive way.

“We won a lot of duels, if we play like this in every game then we will have a chance, it doesn’t mean we will win every game, but if you have chances against Spurs you will have more chances against less quality teams.”

Albion fought so hard to take a point from Jose Mourinho’s side and at times it looked as if the stars were going to align and the Baggies might take the lead.

Unfortunately, poor finishing let Karlan Grant down while a host of other Albion players couldn’t hit the target despite Spurs not being at their best and presenting Bilic’s side with plenty of chances.

On another day the Baggies could have had two or three but true to form this season Albion gave everything and walked away with nothing.

In the coming days, the players will look at the positives from the game but right now that must all seem irrelevant because of not just the result, but how the result came about.

Albion need to take the two-week international break to regroup and work out how to put in a similar performance when they take on a hit-and-miss Manchester United next time out.
