‘Unbelievable’, ‘Reminds me of Beckham’ – Many West Brom fans rave about ‘Gem’ at HT v Spurs
West Brom fans raved about Conor Gallagher’s first-half performance against Tottenham at The Hawthorns on Sunday.
Gallagher, 20, ruffled a few Spurs feathers in the opening 45 minutes by putting himself about and leaving his mark on the away side’s attackers.
There was one moment in the first half when he body-checked Tanguy Ndombele on the edge of the penalty area.
It led to a lot of anger on the Spurs bench but the referee allowed play to continue as Gallagher continued to bully the away side’s attacking players.
Gallagher has impressed West Brom fans since joining on loan from Chelsea in the last transfer window and the supporters’ admiration for the England Under-21 international continued this weekend.
One even said that Gallagher reminds them of David Beckham – but we think that might be down to the hairstyle rather than his ability to cross the ball and score from free-kicks.
Here is a selection of their tweets:
Gallagher is the box-to-box midfielder that Albion needed to sign after winning promotion to the Premier League because he can do a bit of everything that a central player needs to do.
He can put himself about, win tackles, play forward passes, combine with attackers and get involved in and around the penalty area.
We want to see a bit more going forward from Gallagher in the second half but that’s not to say we aren’t impressed by what we’ve seen so far from the Chelsea loan star.
In other West Brom news, Albion fans are furious with this update on the manager situation at The Hawthorns.
