‘Every WBA fan should read this; Huge story brewing’: Some fans react to new claims about owners
West Brom podcaster and radio presenter Adrian Goldberg delivered a worrying thread for Baggies fans on Tuesday and it doesn’t make for great reading for fans.
In the thread, it’s said that the Shareholders 4 Albion group have been sent a legal letter by the club after hand-delivering a letter to Chief Executive Ke Xu (aka Ken) at the training ground asking for an informal meeting with the owners.
S4A – who hold a 12% stake in the club – have also sent on questions about the club’s owners to the Premier League.
They claim “our majority shareholders are invisible, as is our new Chief Executive. The football club appears to lack the leadership needed at this critical time.”
There’s also a question about a £3.7m loan that still hasn’t been paid back.
It doesn’t look good on the current owners.
Now, this could be as simple as a club that is terrible at communication and doesn’t care about its image. But that doesn’t make a whole lot of sense and in cases like this, where allegations are made, it’s generally a case that there’s no smoke without fire.
A story broke overnight in the Express & Star that denied further speculation that the club ownership had already changed.
However, Goldberg said that the story “essentially reported what the club has said”.
He said that he would continue to ask questions.
There are plenty of West Brom fans who are very concerned about what’s going on, with one saying, “Every Albion fan should read this” and another saying, “I fear there is a huge story brewing here and it’s not one that lends to a stable football club.”
It’s the last thing that West Brom need at the moment, with things going wrong on and off the pitch already.
You can read the thread starting here and you can see some of the reactions from fans below.
We hope this doesn’t build into something bigger but we have our fears…
