‘Huge boost’ – Journalist shares major update on Callum Robinson after WBA blow

West Brom were hit with the massive blow on Wednesday that Callum Robinson had tested positive for COVID-19.

The Baggies forward has been forced to drop out of the Republic of Ireland squad and will miss the games with England, Wales and Bulgaria.

Robinson is now in isolation and will need to quarantine for the 10 days – something which would take him to the Manchester United game from Wednesday.

Express and Star journalist Joseph Masi has shared an excellent update though.

Masi has reported that the positive came from a test on Monday, meaning that Robinson will be back available, if feeling well, on Thursday.

It is suggested that Robinson will be allowed to train with the squad in the two days before the trip to Old Trafford.

The local journalist described it as a “huge boost” and that is exactly what it is for the Baggies after their fighting performance against Spurs.

Slaven Bilic will be over the moon at this news.

After finally switching to two up-front against Spurs, Robinson was thrown back into the starting side with Karlan Grant.

Both should have scored and it made the Baggies much more dangerous in the final third, although anything would have been better than the Fulham game before.

The 25-year-old didn’t have any symptoms and felt well despite his positive test, so hopefully, that means he can get straight back into training on Thursday.
