Report: Bilic tension started to build at West Brom over re-signing this player
Slaven Bilic’s relationship with the West Brom bosses began to sour in the summer over the deal to bring Filip Krovinovic back to the club according to The Daily Mail.
Bilic has been under increasing pressure after his side’s poor start to the season and some reports suggest he is close to losing his job.
The Baggies boss has also soured his relationship with the West Brom owners after their decision to sell Ahmed Hegazi despite his protests.
However, The Daily Mail are reporting that the relationship began to fall apart through the summer after another transfer saga. On this occasion, it was the deal to bring Krovinovic back to The Hawthorns.
They report that Bilic has faced ‘a number of challenges in recent months’ and was ‘frustrated by the pace of the club’s transfer dealings’ this summer.
The report goes on to say that the ‘tension behind the scenes’ started when Krovinovic did not return from Benfica until late September despite him being identified as a ‘key target’ by Bilic.
The Croatian midfielder only returned to the club on loan after initially joining on loan at the start of the 2019/20 and the fact that the deal took so long to complete is what has reportedly annoyed Bilic.
This behind the scenes tension and the club’s poor start to the season mean that things are starting to stack up against Bilic as he faces the challenging task of turning the Baggies’ fortunes around.
Albion face a tricky trip to Old Trafford after the international break after putting in an impressive performance against Tottenham last weekend. Despite the loss, the Baggies played well and they will take confidence into the game against the Red Devils knowing their opponents are yet to win at home this season.
In other West Brom news, a Baggies attacker has been tipped to leave The Hawthorns in January.
