‘He knows the PL inside out’ – Darren Moore delivers verdict on West Brom manager situation
Former West Brom manager Darren Moore has backed Slaven Bilic to oversee a turnaround at The Hawthorns despite speculation surrounding his future at the Black Country club.
According to the Mirror, Bilic’s future is in doubt even though he managed to oversee a spirited performance in West Brom’s defeat to Tottenham before the international break started.
Lee Bowyer and John Terry [Daily Mail] have been linked with replacing Bilic in charge of the Baggies if he does get sacked.
However, Albion hero Moore believes Bilic is the right man for the job and claims the Croatian manager has the opportunity to work on his team in this international break.
“They’ve got a wonderful manager, I really think Slaven is an excellent man,” Moore told the Birmingham Mail.
“He’s got the right temperament, he knows the Premier League inside out, so they’ve got a leader at the helm that knows it.
“It presents them a good opportunity this international break to get back on the training pitch, get training, tighten up in one or two areas, getting better in one or two areas that they need to get better in, and then get ready for the next batch of games and a busy December period where point need to be picked up.”
Moore is someone who’s faced the axe at West Brom before with the club harshly sacking him in early 2019.
James Shan saw out the remainder of that season and failed to take the club past the Championship play-off finals but was replaced by Bilic ahead of the start of last season.
Bilic took the Baggies up at the first time of asking but hasn’t been backed in the transfer market by owner Guochuan Lai.
And in the opening weeks of the season, it’s shown.
Bilic is doing what he can by naming the best team he can and he won’t be managing the side any different to what he was last season.
But there’s just a massive deficiency in quality and that’s not something Bilic can fix without investment.
