‘Taken aback’ – West Brom ace blown away by ‘Surreal’ experience on int’l duty
West Brom defender Dara O’Shea has been blown away by the “surreal” experience of international duty with the Republic of Ireland.
The Baggies youngster came on at Wembley for the Irish against England last week and admits he has been constantly learning.
In a week where Callum Robinson dropped out of the Irish squad, it has been O’Shea flying the flag for the Albion.
O’Shea claimed that it has been a great experience being able to question and learn senior heads within the squad picked by Stephen Kenny.
“It’s surreal at first when you come in and you see these players that you have been watching for so long,” he told Balls IE. “They kind of say hello to you and say your name and you’re kind of taken aback by it.
“It’s just been great to learn of those kinds of players, especially the more experienced players that have played a lot for Ireland and I grew up watching.”
It’s been a tough month for O’Shea, and this will be a much-needed boost.
After picking up an injury in training, the 21-year-old has missed a string of Premier League games which will have hurt him after becoming a mainstay.
Slaven Bilic has already spoken out about his admiration for his defender and claimed that he was “unbelievable” in both training and matches.
If O’Shea can come back from international duty better and having learned, Bilic will be delighted that one of his best talents has improved even further.
