Report: Premier League clubs queuing up to sign West Brom loanee

Leeds United, Newcastle United and Crystal Palace are reportedly interested in a move for Conor Gallagher next summer, with the 20-year-old currently on loan at West Brom from Chelsea.

The young midfielder arrived on a season-long loan this summer and has made an almost immediate impression in his four Premier League starts so far.

Gallagher spent last season with Charlton Athletic and Swansea City in the Championship, scoring six goals and providing eight assists (via WhoScored), and appears to be gathering interest rapidly.

According to The Sun (15 November, page 62), Leeds, Newcastle and Crystal Palace have registered an interest, with Chelsea apparently expecting to receive offers of around £10 million.

Following his impressive Championship form last year, he signed a new five-year contract in the summer at Stamford Bridge before arriving at The Hawthorns (via Chelsea).

If Gallagher is available in the summer, the Baggies are likely to have an interest, especially if he continues to perform at the standards he has so far.

An energetic presser and dribbler, he leads the division in terms of successful pressures per 90 minutes, while he averages 4.5 final third entry passes and 91.8 yards in progressive carrying distance per 90 minutes (via FBRef).

Best played in an advanced midfield role, he still has work to do in terms of his possession passing and creativity, but is quickly becoming one of the first names on the teamsheet for the Baggies, able to adapt to the change in formation between a 4-3-3 and 5-3-2.

Whether West Brom are able to compete for his signature going forward will largely depend on the results of their battle for survival, but it is highly likely they would be interested, given that signing players on a permanent basis that were previously on loan has been a large part of their strategy in the past.
