‘Equally poor’ – Michael Owen predicts result of West Brom clash v Man United
Michael Owen has predicted his former club Manchester United will win “comfortably” when West Brom visit Old Trafford on Saturday.
Slaven Bilic’s men are without a win in the Premier League this season with stats by FBRef showing Albion also rank 20th for expected goals so far this term (4.7) and 19th for expected goals against (13.9).
Owen has pointed out that West Brom are as bad going forward as they are at the back ahead of their trip to Manchester this weekend.
And the ex-Liverpool and Man United striker has tipped Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s men to earn a 2-0 victory over 18th-placed Albion.
“West Brom come into this after a string of poor results. Aside from putting three past Chelsea, they haven’t looked great at the back and have been equally poor going forward,” Owen wrote on the BetVictor website.
“United have still to find their rhythm and they must find a way to get their best players all on the pitch at the same time, which is obviously easier said than done. You can’t keep Pogba on the bench, and if he can’t secure a regular place in the side soon, he may have to consider his options.
“For all United are inconsistent, they are up against a side that are really struggling, and I expect them to win this comfortably.”
We don’t want to say we agree with Owen because we want to see West Brom win their first Premier League match of the season by causing an upset at Old Trafford.
But the stats this season simply don’t lie and there’s no getting away from how bad the Baggies have been since they won promotion.
Of course, West Brom fans will point out that their team has picked up some huge results at Old Trafford in recent years with Albion winning their most recent trip to Man United when Jay Rodriguez scored in a 1-0 win in April 2018.
It would be fair to say United have shown quite a bit of an improvement in the last two years even though they have had a mixed start to the current season but we’re still not going to expect much from this weekend’s action.
In other West Brom news, this Albion player was torn to shreds for his international performance last week.
