Sky Sports shares major update on Sam Field, claim ‘mystery’ WBA ace could miss Blades clash
West Brom midfielder Sam Field could return to the squad for the Premier League clash with Sheffield United on Saturday evening.
Sky Sports shared the major update on Friday afternoon, with the 22-year-old being through the wars in the past month.
Field first picked up a serious knee injury, and Slaven Bilic then confirmed he had tested positive for COVID-19 last week and has since recovered.
In the same report, it claims that a “mystery” Baggies player is set to miss the game at the Hawthorns after a virus outbreak this month.
Kieran Gibbs and Jake Livermore returned negative tests this week, but Bilic admitted that one was still feeling under the weather.
Common sense would suggest that the mystery player will be one of those two unless there has been another injury under-the-radar.
Field’s return would cover the loss of Livermore, and Gibbs has yet to feature since his red card against Everton at the start of the season.
In such a crunch clash in the Premier League, it would be great to have the skipper Livermore back in the squad.
His experience will be critical to survival this season, and having him in midfield against the Blades will be a real boost.
Bilic has never shied away from his admiration for Field though, and it would be no surprise to see him on the bench tomorrow night.
Hal Robson-Kanu returned ahead of schedule last week, and this week it could the turn of Field to prove his fitness early.
