West Brom staff member makes decision after approach from EFL club – report

West Brom goalkeeping coach Boaz Myhill has turned down the chance to join Tony Pulis at Sheffield Wednesday, according to Birmingham Live

Former Baggies manager Pulis recently took the hot seat at Hillsborough after Garry Monk was dismissed following a poor start to the season.

Pulis has a tough job on his hands with the Owls firmly in the Championship relegation places and Myhill has turned down the chance to help his former manager guide Wednesday to safety.

Birmingham Live report that Pulis “formally approached Albion and Myhill regarding the goalkeeping role in their first team coaching staff”, but Myhill turned the offer down.

Pulis has already recruited former Baggies midfielder Craig Gardner to his coaching staff at Hillsborough as he looks to build a new coaching team.

Myhill won’t be joining him though as he has chosen to remain with West Brom and work with the club’s youth players.

Since retiring in 2019 Myhill has been involved with the club’s academy and the fact that he has turned down a coaching role at Sheffield Wednesday is a huge compliment to Albion’s academy set up.

It is great to see Myhill remain with the club he spent nine years with as a player and he remains to be a favourite among the Baggies fan base, his decision to turn down Pulis will only enhance his reputation.

Since his appointment, Pulis has lost one game and won another with his new side which leaves the Owls five points from safety.
