Slaven Bilic: West Brom have contacted FA after controversy v Manchester United

West Brom manager Slaven Bilic has confirmed that the club have spoken to the FA about the decision to overturn the penalty decision against Manchester United.

During the Baggies’ 1-0 defeat at Old Trafford last weekend, VAR overturned the on-field decision to award West Brom a penalty after Conor Gallagher went over in the box.

Speaking ahead of the match against Sheffield United on Saturday, Bilic described it as a “bad decision” and confirmed that they had raised their concerns.

“We have raised it with the FA,” Bilic said, via Express and Star.

“We don’t expect a lot. But we have to show we noticed. It’s important to do that because then they have to say something. It was bad, a bad feeling a bad decision – bad everything.

“But that was at that game. We can’t look at that game in a negative way, there were many positives out of it and now we are focused on Sheffield United.”

As Bilic states, it is unlikely that anything will come of their talks with the FA and unfortunately, there is no way they can change the result against United.

The decision was a bad one and the Baggies deserved a penalty, but they cannot dwell on it for too long and must be putting their full focus on earning a win against the Blades.

West Brom and Sheffield United sit 19th and 20th respectively and a defeat at The Hawthorns would leave Bilic and his team in a very difficult position.

Chris Wilder’s side have struggled to score goals so far this season, with just four from their opening nine matches. However, they have conceded fewer goals than West Brom and face a Baggies side that have scored just once in their last six matches.

This decision must be put in the past, and three points tonight would make it a distant memory.
