‘Play him in the first-team’ – Many WBA fans react to ‘On fire’ senior player in U23s on Monday
West Brom utilised their under-23s squad on Monday afternoon to hand minutes to their rarely-seen senior players.
Deon Burton named five first-teamers in his side to take on Sunderland in the Premier League 2, and he reaped the rewards.
Rekeem Harper, Kyle Edwards, Kamil Grosicki, Charlie Austin and Matt Phillips all started in the 3-1 victory for the young Baggies.
It was Polish international, Grosicki who grabbed the headlines with two goals.
The winger has endured a whirlwind year at the Hawthorns, to say the least, with his future having been in the air for a long month.
Grosicki was rarely-used after joining from Hull and was allowed to leave during the last transfer window, with an offer from Nottingham Forest accepted.
That move collapsed when paperwork was submitted late, and the FA rejected an appeal from Forest to complete the transfer anyway.
Slaven Bilic has since opened the door to the winger to earn his spot back in the Premier League squad, and he will have done himself a massive favour on Monday.
It would have been easy for the veteran to sulk after this summer, but it appears that he has got his head down and is doing everything right at the Hawthorns.
Many West Brom fans have reacted to the performance of Grosicki on Monday, and they were delighted with the impact he made on the under-23s.
The majority were left questioning why the Pole wasn’t involved in the senior squad, hopefully, that may change this weekend against Palace.
