West Brom ace starts for U23s as Baggies future remains uncertain

Kamil Grosicki will start for the West Brom under 23s in their Premier League 2 clash with Sunderland on Monday.

Grosicki remains a Baggies player after a move to Nottingham Forest fell through in the summer.

He has yet to appear for Albion in any competition this season and he hasn’t even made the bench in the Premier League.

Grosicki will be given a chance to impress for the Baggies youth side along with other players who could be options for Bilic in the future.

Charlie Austin, Rakeem Harper, Kyle Edwards and Matt Phillips will also start against Sunderland and this could hint that these players are being considered for larger first-team roles by the Baggies boss.

All five players are registered to play in the Premier League and if the five substitutes rule is reintroduced then these are all players who could be of value to Bilic.

There is also the possibility that the club are just trying to keep Grosicki and Austin fit for the January transfer window with the potential that both men could leave The Hawthorns for pastures new.

Baggies fans will be happy to know that both players are still involved with the club after not being included in recent matchday squads.

If Grosicki can make a good account of himself then there is every chance Bilic may give the Polish international an opportunity in the Premier League.

Albion face six league games in December and with the congested schedule, Bilic might just need Grosicki to make up the numbers.

In other West Brom news, Bilic has claimed that one Baggies youngster has the makings of a ‘great player.
