‘Quite a hit’, ‘I’m now worried’ – Many West Brom fans distraught by major injury news

West Brom were hit with the blow on Friday that Conor Townsend will be out for four-to-six weeks with a knee injury.

The left-back was forced off in the 1-0 win over Sheffield United on Saturday and is set for a spell on the sidelines.

Slaven Bilic confirmed the news ahead of the Premier League clash against Crystal Palace, as the Baggies look for consecutive wins.

The Baggies are also waiting on the fitness of Kieran Gibbs, who despite being back in training is not guaranteed to start against Palace.

Steve Madeley of the Athletic relayed the news on his personal Twitter account, claiming that the Albion feared that Townsend could be out for even longer.

It is some positive that it could only be one month, given that Bilic was fearing the worst after the so-called impact injury against the Blades.

The Croatian claimed that Townsend would play on one leg if his side needed him too, but it is surely best for him to rest and get back ahead of schedule if possible.

Many West Brom fans have reacted to the blow, and the majority of them have all admitted that it is a huge blow over the busy Christmas period.

Some have been scratching their heads over the replacement, and Dara O’Shea appears to be one player who could get the nod down the left if needed.

It will be interesting to see what happens, but all eyes are on how Gibbs reacts to his return to training this week after COVID-19.
