‘Yes, he is’ – Bilic claims rarely seen West Brom ace in contention to play v Crystal Palace
Slaven Bilic has claimed that Kamil Grosicki could feature for West Brom when the Baggies take on Crystal Palace on Sunday.
Grosicki is yet to feature for the Baggies this season after a move to Nottingham Forest was blocked by the EFL during the summer.
But, after impressing in an Under 23s game last week, Bilic has claimed that the Polish winger is ‘teasing’ his head as the Baggies boss ponders Sunday’s team selection.
Speaking to Birmingham Live, Bilic said, “We’ll see what January brings. It’s very close, but we have many games in between [now and Christmas]. We’ll see.
“He’s a good professional so he’s involved in training. We watched that game [under 23’s], my staff were there. Of course, he scored a couple of goals and scored three goals for Poland in the last international break.
“Is he teasing me in my head, even for Sunday [against Crystal Palace]? Yes, he is. Like everyone else. Everyone is finishing with small or big pluses, or small or big minuses. Kamil Grosicki is picking up pluses.”
Some Baggies fans have questioned why a talented attacker like Grosicki has been omitted from Albion’s matchday squads despite the side’s poor attacking efforts this season.
Bilic’s comments seem to suggest that Grosicki has at least a short team future at The Hawthorns and he has shown this season that he can take chances when they are given to him.
In the Under 23s game he played, he scored two goals. Grosicki has equally been amongst the goals for Poland this season as he continues to be called up to his national side despite not playing club football.
It was unknown if Grosicki was given under 23s minutes to get him ready for first-team football or to keep him fit so he can be sold in January.
For now, it seems like it was the former as the 32-year-old could be handed a Hawthorns lifeline on Sunday.
Grosicki could be a valuable asset to Albion if he recovers his best form and that recovery needs to start as soon as the winger is given a chance.
