‘Shocking’ – Chris Lepkowski predicts ‘serious doubts’ over Bilic future after 5-1 defeat

Chris Lepkowski has predicted “serious doubts” over the future of Slaven Bilic after West Brom were thrashed 5-1 against Crystal Palace.

The Baggies were behind early through a Darnell Furlong own-goal, but responded well and were on top when Conor Gallagher fired home the equaliser.

Matheus Pereira was then sent off, and after that Wilfried Zaha and Christian Benteke took the game away from the Albion at the Hawthorns.

Lepkowski admitted that the lack of spirit on show in the second half was “shocking” and that all concern will land at the feet of Bilic.

“The lack of spirit and fight in this second half has been shocking. Got to be serious doubts about Bilic’s future after this,” he wrote on his personal Twitter account.

It would be no surprise to see Bilic leave the Hawthorns.

David Ornstein reported this week that the Croatian’s future remains on a “knives-edge” and that it could go either way – something this result won’t help.

West Brom

Where did it go wrong?

Before Pereira was sent off, the Baggies were on top and pushing for a goal to put them into the lead and it was definitely coming.

Similar to the Everton defeat earlier in the season, West Brom collapsed far too easily and Palace started to make them look foolish.

The relationship between Bilic and the board has never been amazing, and unfortunately, it would be no real surprise to see the Croatian leave at any stage between now and the Newcastle game – we hope not.
