Report shares significant update on upcoming West Brom clash v Newcastle
Newcastle United are hopeful that their Premier League clash with West Brom will go ahead on Saturday, according to the Chronicle.
The outlet claim on their website that the Magpies are hopeful of returning to their training ground on Tuesday after their clash with Aston Villa was postponed.
Despite being sent home from the training complex, players were told to continue their preparations for the Baggies clash from home.
The training ground has been closed since the 26th of November, and there were concerns it could postpone this weekend’s game.
It is reported that some under-23s players, who have been able to continue may be called into the senior set-up in the absence of first-teamers.
The Newcastle squad have undergone another round of COVID-19 testing on Monday and look set to return ahead of the upcoming clash.
West Brom have had their own problems, with the likes of Matheus Pereira, Branislav Ivanovic and Jake Livermore testing positive.
The Baggies are back to full health with regards to the virus, although that isn’t helping much with matters on the pitch.
After the disappointment of the Crystal Palace defeat, West Brom and Slaven Bilic will be raring to get back into the action.
It is more than a big game for Bilic.
Steve Madeley of the Athletic has claimed that the Croatian is under serious threat at the Baggies, and may only have one game left to turn things around.
If the Newcastle game didn’t go ahead, Bilic and the Baggies would then have to travel to Manchester City potentially needing a result to keep their boss around.
This is a huge boost for the Albion.
