‘Unfortunately’ – Slaven Bilic confirms fresh injury blow for West Brom ace
Hal Robson-Kanu has picked up a fresh knock after recently recovering from a broken arm he sustained when West Brom lost to Southampton in October.
The forward played 25 minutes as the Baggies won their first game of the season against Sheffield United last week.
But the 31-year-old was missing from Slaven Bilic’s squad to face Crystal Palace and after the game, the Albion boss explained the Welshman’s absence.
Bilic is quoted by football.London as saying “He unfortunately got a kick on his wrist after having surgery. Something moved inside so he’s again in plaster for two weeks.”
This will come as a blow to the Baggies as Robson-Kanu provides vital attacking experience as Bilic’s side continue to struggle in front of goal.
Karlan Grant hasn’t scored since he notched away at Brighton in October and Callum Robinson has now gone eight games without a goal since he scored a brace against Chelsea.
There is no doubting that Bilic has problems with his attackers and having Robson-Kanu ruled out for two weeks will rob him of a decent option off the bench.
It is hard to criticise Grant for not scoring against Crystal Palace as, according to Sofascore, the Baggies created no big chances against the Eagles.
But some stats suggest that Robson-Kanu has performed better than Grant this season and should perhaps be starting over the former Huddersfield man.
According to Wyscout, Robson-Kanu has been more accurate than Grant as he has got 71.4% of his shots on target this season while Grant has only managed to get 33% of his shots on target.
The Welsh international has also outscored the former Terrier this season as he has three goals to his name with Grant still only scoring once for his new club.
It is worth noting that Robson-Kanu’s goals came in the Carabao Cup but he has certainly been more clinical than Grant since he joined the club.
Robson-Kanu will be a miss for the Baggies over the next few weeks as he remains to be West Brom’s joint top scorer in all competitions this season.
