‘Corrupt sham’, ‘Disgraceful’, ‘Clueless’ – Many WBA fans outraged by Matheus Pereira update

West Brom have been unsuccessful with an appeal of Matheus Pereira’s red card in the 5-1 defeat against Crystal Palace.

Express and Star journalist Joseph Masi shared the news on Tuesday, with the panel deciding against rescinding or lowering the punishment handed to the Brazilian.

Pereira will now miss games against Newcastle, Manchester City and Aston Villa as the Baggies enter the busy Christmas period.

The incident wasn’t as bad as made out, and although Pereira kicked out at Patrick van Aanholt, he didn’t make much contact.

Ian Wright claimed the decision was “laughable” and that the reaction of the Dutch defender was unnecessary.

It could have been easy for the FA and dubious panel to reduce the ban to one game, it would have been enough of a punishment to treat Pereira a lesson.

Hopefully, Pereira will see this harsh punishment as a reminder not to rise and react to other players when they try and wind him up in the future.

Many West Brom fans have reacted to the decision, claiming that is a disgrace and a shambles that Pereira’s ban has been upheld.

The majority even claimed that it wouldn’t have surprised them if it would have been extended to five games, given the Baggies luck so far this season.
