Sky Sports: Agents of West Brom-linked player hold initial talks over January loan move

The representatives of West Brom target Jesse Lingard are reportedly exploring their options ahead of the upcoming January transfer window, according to Sky Sports.

As per the Mirror, West Brom are one of the teams interested in signing the out-of-favour Manchester United star, along with West Ham, Rangers and Celtic.

Lingard is yet to feature for United in the Premier League this season and has been limited to just two appearances in the EFL Cup.

The player is out of contract at Old Trafford in the summer but could leave as early as January, with clubs lining up to take the England international in the new year.

Sky Sports have said his agents have held initial talks with a number of clubs.

It has a been a difficult period for Lingard and a move away from Old Trafford could be exactly what he needs to rejuvenate what was once a promising career.

After seeing Matheus Pereira sent off against Crystal Palace on Sunday, a potential move for Lingard could become even more tempting for Slaven Bilic. The former has only managed one goal and two assists in 10 Premier League appearances for the Baggies this season, as per Transfermarkt.

Adding Premier League experience to their squad in January could be key to West Brom’s chances of survival this season and with 133 top-flight appearances under his belt, Lingard has that in abundance.

In the current West Brom squad, only Branislav Ivanovic (267), Jake Livermore (186) and Kieran Gibbs (172) have appeared more in the Premier League, highlighting how valuable Lingard’s experience could be.

While he may not be viewed as a direct replacement for the Brazilian, adding the Man United ace to their squad could take some pressure off Pereira, who is still yet to consistently show the dazzling form that saw him light up the Championship last season, where he scored eight goals and registered 20 assists.
