‘I must admit…’ – EFL manager responds when asked if keen on West Brom attacker
Nottingham Forest manager Chris Hughton has provided an update on the Championship side’s pursuit of West Brom attacker Kamil Grosicki.
Speaking to Nottinghamshire Live, Hughton did not exactly rule out of a potential move for the Pole, but remained coy on a deal.
He said: “Possibly. But I must admit, I don’t know. I don’t know if any of the circumstances have changed with him.
“Obviously it didn’t happen last time. At this moment, I honestly couldn’t tell you.”
Forest have been long-term admirers of the winger and their pursuit of the player was one of the more controversial stories from the summer transfer window.
After trying to sign the player on loan, a legal dispute followed with regards to whether or not the relevant paperwork was submitted in time.
January move works for both parties
Grosicki has rapidly fallen out of favour at West Brom following their promotion to the Premier League.
He has not played a single minute of top-flight football and has only managed to find a place on the bench on just two occasions this season, as per Transfermarkt.
Having been forced to play Under-23s football, you can imagine it is highly likely that Grosicki will be eager to move on in the new year, so a potential move to Nottingham Forest makes sense for both parties.
The winger only registered one goal and three assists during 14 Championship appearances for the Baggies last season.
Given he was something of a bit-part player in the second-tier, it is unlikely he will be a player that Slaven Bilic looks towards to guide the club out of trouble in the Premier League anytime soon.
He also failed to score a single goal for Hull during his previous spell in the top flight, so he is unlikely to be missed at the Hawthorns.
