‘Get this geezer out of my club’ – Many West Brom fans tear ‘Donkey’ to shreds at HT v Newcastle

West Brom fans have taken to Twitter to tear Branislav Ivanovic to shreds for his role in Newcastle taking an early lead at St James’ Park on Saturday.

Miguel Almiron netted the quickest Premier League goal of the season in the 20th second of the game after a horrific defensive lapse by Ivanovic.

The veteran defender stepped out of the West Brom back-three to win an aerial ball but managed to flick the ball towards Callum Wilson with the back of his thigh.

Wilson then touched the ball onto Joelinton, who’s pass found Almiron in way too much space at the back post.

While the goal still could have been stopped after Ivanovic’s blunder, there’s no denying that the Serbian defender was the major contributing factor.

West Brom fans were hardly sympathetic for the ex-Chelsea man after his mishap.

One wanted Slaven Bilic to hook the summer signing as soon as the Magpies took the lead in the first minute while another said: “Get this geezer out of my club.”

Here is a selection of their tweets:

West Brom’s decision to sell Ahmed Hegazi – behind the back of Bilic – after signing Ivanovic on a free is looking more and more like an odd one.

Hegazi wasn’t amazing for the Baggies but surely he would have been a better bet than the Serb in the Albion defence this season.

Ivanovic hasn’t done a lot wrong since his arrival at The Hawthorns but due to the fact he was a free transfer who’s at the back-end of his career, he’s someone who fans will be keeping a close eye on.

Cedric Kipre is on the bench.

He’s someone who Albion actually paid for and is a lot younger than Ivanovic.

We wouldn’t mind seeing what the ex-Wigan man can do in the Premier League when the defenders ahead of him in the pecking order are no more than a laughing stock.

In other West Brom news, a FIFA intermediary has warned Albion of transfer “turmoil” due to Brexit.
