‘West Brom will have a plan’ – Mark Lawrenson predicts result of Albion clash v Man City
Mark Lawrenson has predicted that Manchester City will defeat West Brom when the sides meet at the Etihad on Tuesday evening.
The BBC Sport pundit believes that Slaven Bilic’s side will lose 3-0 when they face Pep Guardiola’s men and he can’t see Albion’s game plan working.
While doing his weekly predictions for BBC Sport, Lawrenson claimed that Tuesday’s game is one that City have to win.
He said, “The Manchester derby was a nothing game but, from Manchester City’s perspective, a point at Old Trafford is never a bad result.
“They have to win this one, though. West Brom will have a plan to sit in, defend and keep City out, but I don’t see that working for very long.”
It isn’t exactly bold to predict that the Baggies will lose Tuesday’s game after their start to the season but Bilic’s side has had some success against top Premier League teams this term.
The Baggies drew 3-3 with a talented Chelsea side earlier in the year and they have produced strong performances against Manchester United and Tottenham this season.
Albion will need to produce a monumental showing if they are to take anything from Tuesday’s game but there should certainly be an improvement on the performances from some players after the loss to Newcastle last weekend.
The match at St James’ Park against a depleted Newcastle side was a winnable game and to narrowly lose was bitterly disappointing.
Realistically, the best Albion fans can hope for against the Citizens is a decent performance and a result that doesn’t impact their side’s goal difference too much. Bilic and his players owe the fans a decent performance after two very poor league showings in the last two weeks.
In other West Brom news, Slaven Bilic has explained why he took off Karlan Grant during his side’s loss to Newcastle at the weekend.
