‘Waste of money’, ‘Terrible’ – Many West Brom fans destroy ‘Awful’ 23y/o at HT v City
West Brom went into their Premier League game with Manchester City with little hope on Tuesday evening at the Etihad.
Slaven Bilic made three changes to his side, bringing back Kieran Gibbs, Jake Livermore and Grady Diangana into the team.
That meant that Karlan Grant kept his spot, despite the summer signing having a torrid time in the final third since his goal at Brighton.
Grant had the perfect chance to put an end to that run.
After a lucky break of the ball, the forward raced into the box and cut inside of Nathan Ake to leave the goal gaping.
Unfortunately, the 23-year-old hit the ball with no real conviction and it gave Ederson a simple save to parry the ball behind for a corner.
When your confidence is low, these are the types of chances you dream of having the night before a game, especially against one of the Premier League’s best.
West Brom went on to regret that one, as Raheem Sterling put the ball on a plate for Ilkay Gundogan to smash the home side into the lead midway through the first half.
Grant’s blushes were saved just before the break though when Semi Ajayi scored his first Premier League goal to equalise for the Albion.
Many West Brom fans have slaughtered Grant for his first-half performance, and that miss was the main incident they were unhappy with.
Some even went on to suggest that the former Huddersfield man was a “waste of money” and that Callum Robinson should replace him as soon as possible.
