Owen Hargreaves awestruck by ‘Really talented’ West Brom mainstay ahead of City clash

Owen Hargreaves has been blown away by West Brom youngster Conor Gallagher this season in the Premier League.

The Chelsea loanee has been one of the shining lights at the Hawthorns, scoring in the past two home games against Sheffield United and Crystal Palace.

Hargreaves has admitted his excitement to watch Gallagher against tough opposition such as Manchester City on Tuesday evening.

Speaking on Amazon Prime ahead of kick-off, Hargreaves admitted that the talented midfielder needs to be brave at the Etihad.

“I love Gallagher at the heart of midfield,” he said.

“I think he’s a really talented young man, only 20-years-old, he’s already got two goals. I think in his last three games, he’s had five shots on goal in one, six in the other.

“He takes chances, he’s a goalscoring midfield player and you’re going to need him to be brave. I’m really excited to see this kid against really good opposition – he can play.”

Gallagher has certainly been the shining light and has still impressed while the likes of Matheus Pereira and Grady Diangana continue to struggle.

No other Baggies player has a better WhoScored average match rating this season, with the midfielder also averaging the most shots on goal per game.

That shows just how much Gallagher loves to get forward, and that will be critical when the Baggies look to cause City problems on the counter-attack.

Albion need to take their chances if they get any, and it could be Gallagher who that falls to at the Etihad – he must thrive in this pressure.
