Exclusive: Senior duo sacked by West Brom as well as Bilic on day of knives at The Hawthorns

West Brom have sacked manager Slaven Bilic and his two assistants, West Brom News can reveal.

The 52-year-old led the Baggies to an impressive 1-1 draw away against Manchester City on Tuesday night but that was not enough to save his job.

Bilic’s assistants Danilo Butorovic and Dean Racunica have also been sacked by Albion’s hierarchy with Sam Allardyce the front-runner to step into the vacant management role at The Hawthorns.

A West Brom source has told West Brom News that an announcement about Bilic’s sacking will be made later on Wednesday with the club desperate to avoid relegation back to the Championship.

Survival expert Allardyce is currently viewed as the major favourite for the job with talkSPORT reporting that the ex-Everton, Crystal Palace and Sunderland manager has pulled out of his radio duties on Wednesday amid links with replacing Bilic at The Hawthorns.

Albion have won just one of their opening 13 Premier League matches this season and before the draw at Man City on Tuesday had suffered a heavy 5-1 defeat at home to Crystal Palace and a 2-1 loss to COVID-hit Newcastle.

West Brom’s form hasn’t been great for most of 2020 with Bilic overseeing just four wins in his last 24 league matches in both the top-flight and the Championship.

The Croatian’s deal was due to expire at the end of this season but the Baggies have made the decision ahead of January to get rid of him now.

In other West Brom news, this ex-Albion star admits the Baggies should sack Bilic.
