‘Get the band back’ – Ex-West Brom defender throws his name in the hat for Baggies role
Paul Robinson has thrown his name into the hat to rejoin West Brom after the departure of Slaven Bilic.
The Athletic journalist Steve Madeley shared that the Croatian left the Hawthorns on Wednesday morning and that Sam Allardyce was in talks to take over.
It was reported that Allardyce should be in charge on Sunday afternoon in the massive derby clash with Aston Villa.
Robinson has reacted to the breaking news today, by throwing his name into the hat for a coaching role – something he has been warned against by fans.
The former Baggies enforcer claimed he could “get the band back together” with Jono Greening and Kevin Phillips.
Writing on his personal Twitter account on Wednesday, Robinson used plenty of emojis raising his hand to turn things around for the Albion.
“Let’s get the band back together, Me, Super Kev and Jono Greening,” he said.
The bad news for Robinson is that this was premeditated.
No matter what the result will have been against Manchester City on Tuesday, it appears as though Bilic will have been packing his bags, with Allardyce in place.
Joseph Masi of the Express and Star reported that the Baggies had been talking to candidates throughout the week and that the agent of one of those who failed to get the job broke the news of Bilic’s upcoming departure.
Allardyce appears to have been in place ready to take over, so although Robinson appears up for it, it will be Big Sam on the touchline until the end of the season at least.
