‘I’m getting the feeling…’ – Richard Keys makes claim on WBA ownership after huge Bilic news

Former Sky Sports host Richard Keys believes West Brom owner Guochuan Lai jumped the gun on the decision to sack manager Slaven Bilic.

According to Telegraph journalist John Percy, Bilic will lose his job at some point on Wednesday despite the Baggies securing an impressive 1-1 draw away at Manchester City on Tuesday night

Reports of Bilic’s imminent sacking angered supporters on Tuesday. They hadn’t even been able to celebrate what could turn out to be a vital point at the Etihad before the huge news about Bilic broke.

West Brom

Keys has a theory that West Brom’s hierarchy made the decision to sack Bilic before the Man City game because they expected to suffer a heavy defeat.

Writing via his personal Twitter account on Wednesday morning, he said: “I’m getting the feeling West Brom’s owners expected them to get spanked at City last night. This is all a bit awkward now.”

Richard Keys is…. right?

This absolutely stinks.

If Bilic was going to be sacked you would do it after losing 5-1 at home to Crystal Palace or losing 2-1 against a Newcastle side that had a number of key players missing due to a COVID-19 outbreak.

Why on earth would you take the decision to sack him after a brilliant display and a brilliant point away at Man City? Where is the logic in that?

West Brom

It makes absolutely no sense, which is why we think Keys is right to suggest the decision was taken beforehand, that everything was in place to sack Bilic after the Newcastle game but the club didn’t have the bottle to do it. They opted, instead, to wait and see the Baggies get hammered by Man City.

That didn’t happen and owner Lai, chairman Li Piyue, chief executive Xu Ke and sporting director Luke Dowling now look stupid.

We can cry ‘sack the board’ as much as we want. It’s not going to happen.

We can tweet #LaiOut as much as we want too. But again, it’s not going to happen (at least not any time soon).

Bilic is not blameless in our poor start to the season but the real issues lie above him in the chain of command.
