‘It doesn’t matter’ – Berbatov delivers verdict on Allardyce, predicts West Brom v Villa

Dimitar Berbatov believes that Sam Allardyce’s West Brom reign will begin with a draw against Aston Villa on Sunday.

The former Tottenham striker thinks that Sunday’s Midlands derby will finish 1-1 which is the same scoreline from the Baggies’ last game against Manchester City.

While doing his weekly predictions for Metro, Berbatov claimed that ‘it doesn’t matter’ how West Brom pick up points for the rest of the season as the club fights against relegation.

He said, “This will be Sam Allardyce’s first game and he has a reputation for saving teams and getting them playing in a way that gets them up the table.

“Most of the time it might not be beautiful football but that’s how he gets it done and he has his style. West Brom need points, it doesn’t matter how they get them.

“I think Big Sam will start with a draw in this one. Prediction 1-1.”

There will be significant interest in the result of Sunday’s game from many Premier League clubs who will be assessing the immediate reaction that Allardyce will get from his new players.

There are bound to be some nerves around the other clubs near the bottom of the table now that Allardyce has been appointed.

His reputation of saving clubs from the drop is well documented and with Albion only one win away from getting out of the bottom three, there is reason to be optimistic among the West Brom fan base.

A draw against Villa wouldn’t be the worst result in the world and it would be seen as a positive result and an immediate step in the right direction from the new coaching staff.

A win would be unbelievable and it would give everyone associated with West Brom a timely boost as the club looks to survive in the Premier League.
