West Brom want Danish forward who scored 26 goals in 25 games last season – report
West Brom are one of several clubs interested in signing Danish striker Kasper Junker, according to TEAMtalk.
The Baggies have been poor in front of goal this season with summer signing Karlan Grant failing to impress or get on the scoresheet in recent weeks.
Albion may make a move for Junker, according to TEAMtalk, after the forward impressed last season scoring 26 goals in 25 Norwegian first division games.
TEAMtalk claim that Junker has attracted ‘a great deal of interest’ and is being monitored by Celtic, Crystal Palace and Swansea as well as the Baggies.
They also say that Junker would be eligible for a work permit despite not being a full international.
Junker’s incredible form last season was undeniable as he averaged more than one goal per game but there has to be questions over whether he is the man to keep the Baggies in the Premier League.
There is a significant jump in quality between the Norwegian Eliteserien and the Premier League and it is doubtful that Junker would perform to a similar standard in the English top flight.
Albion need to target a player with Premier League experience who knows how to get out of a relegation fight.
Signing Junker would be a huge risk and it doesn’t seem like the kind of signing that Sam Allardyce would sanction.
Allardyce will want players who are tried and tested and have considerable Premier League experience, Junker has none of these attributes.
However, Albion desperately need someone who knows where the goal is and Junker certainly has a talent for finding the net.
