Danny Murphy makes WBA prediction for PL status & Villa clash after Big Sam appointment

Danny Murphy has suggested that West Brom and Sam Allardyce may not see immediate rewards against Aston Villa this evening.

The Baggies caused controversy this week, sacking Slaven Bilic despite his side going to Manchester City and picking up the unlikeliest of points.

Allardyce was appointed the day after, which saw it revealed that Albion had been speaking to candidates before even sacking the Croatian.

Writing in his Daily Mail column, Murphy has claimed that the Baggies many not see the immediate rewards of Allardyce this evening.

“It is that ability to get the best out of the parts available which makes good managers and that is what West Brom are getting,” he said.

“I’m not saying he will keep Albion up but his players will go into matches full of belief and understanding their jobs. Sam will give them a firm idea of what is expected and that clarity lifts pressure.

“You may not see the rewards immediately against Aston Villa on Sunday but they will come.”

There aren’t many bigger games for Allardyce to have as in his first game in charge at the Hawthorns, one of your closest midlands rivals.

Having said that, looking at the upcoming run of fixtures, it may be vital they pick up a result against the Villans this evening.

With Liverpool, Leeds and Arsenal all coming up, Allardyce needs any kind of points as quickly as possible if survival is to happen.

The one thing Allardyce should bring is organisation. The Baggies need more goals, and they need to stop shipping them at the other end – if he can’t help that, then the Albion won’t be going anywhere but the Championship next season.
