‘Gambling’ – Callum Robinson fires West Brom warning over Villa player on ‘another level’
Callum Robinson has fired a warning at his West Brom teammates about stopping Aston Villa playmaker Jack Grealish this evening.
Sam Allardyce takes charge of his first Baggies game against our fierce rivals this evening, welcoming them to the Hawthorns with, unfortunately, no fans present.
Robinson has claimed that you have to be smart with Grealish, as you can’t get too tight, but also can’t gamble when marking him.
Speaking to the Daily Mail, Robinson fired a warning to his side claiming that they must replicate their treatment of Harry Kane and Heung Min-Son from earlier in the season.
“Don’t jump in and try and gamble – because that’s what I did every time. By gambling he just strides straight past you,” he said.
“He’s got a lot to his game so we’ll try and find a way to set up and stop him. It’s difficult against the top players but we’ve done well against Harry Kane and Son who didn’t have any joy against us.
“I’m really happy for him at the moment because it’s going really well and he’s playing on another level doing, what he wants.”
Big Sam will know all about Grealish, and working on this defence will be his main task going into the remainder of the Premier League season.
We don’t expect large-scale changes from the 1-1 draw with Manchester City, and it won’t be Robinson tasked with keeping the Villa skipper quiet.
Jake Livermore will play a huge role in doing that, and so will Darnell Furlong when he drifts out-wide onto his left-hand side.
The England international is in WhoScored’s Premier League Team of the Season so far with his average match rating and has a huge influence on the rest of his squad.
Only Kevin De Bruyne averages more key passes than Grealish, and of course, he is nearly fouled more than two times any other player in the division.
He is the clear dangerman, and stopping him will be key to taking all three points.
