‘Not a huge surprise’ – Savage delivers verdict on West Brom’s season so far
Robbie Savage has given his verdict on how West Brom have performed this season and it is fair to say that he isn’t impressed.
The Baggies sit second bottom of the Premier League and only have one win to their name as they fight to avoid an immediate return to the Championship.
Speaking in The Mirror, Savage claimed that he isn’t surprised to see Albion in the relegation zone and rated this season’s performance as one out of five.
He said, “It’s not a huge surprise to see the Baggies where they are. But I didn’t like the way they got rid of Slaven Bilic.
“The performance against Villa, in new manager Sam Allardyce’s first game, was arguably their worst of the season. Big Sam is going to have his work cut out to keep them up.”
Sam Allardyce’s reign didn’t get off to the best of starts but to claim it was Albion’s worst performance of the season is a bit of a stretch.
Recently the Baggies capitulated and lost 5-1 to Crystal Palace at The Hawthorns, a few weeks before that they lost at Craven Cottage without testing the Fulham goalkeeper.
The fact that there is so much competition for worst performance of the season doesn’t bode well for West Brom.
Only one team ranks lower than the Baggies in Savage’s opinion as he gave Arsenal a 0.5/5 rating.
Unfortunately, West Brom have been one of the worst teams in the league this season and that is reflected by their position in the table.
Allardyce has a huge job on his hands and his task doesn’t get any easier as Albion travel to Anfield this weekend to face last season’s Premier League champions.
Many Baggies fans will be pleased if there is simply an improved performance from their side against Liverpool as the chances of picking up a positive result are slim to none.
