Nigel Quashie makes West Brom survival claim after surprise Liverpool draw
Former West Brom midfielder Nigel Quashie has declared that staying in the Premier League is more than doable for Albion after the Baggies drew against Liverpool.
Semi Ajayi cancelled out Sadio Mane’s opener on Sunday night as the points were shared at Anfield in a result that few saw coming.
Speaking on Twitter after the game, Quashie hailed his former side’s performance before making his claim about Albion’s survival chances.
He said, “Wow, what a performance. All the players should be proud and have belief from this game. Staying up is more than doable!”
Everyone associated with West Brom will be revelling in the unexpected result at Anfield and belief may be growing that the Baggies can avoid the drop.
This Albion side has now drawn away at both Liverpool and Manchester City this season which is incredible considering where the Baggies sit in the table.
Liverpool don’t quite seem to be the same beast that they were last season but they are still top of the Premier League table so drawing with them is no mean feat.
It is so frustrating that the Baggies can secure draws at Anfield and The Etihad but are unable to pick up positive results against sides such as Aston Villa or Newcastle United.
None the less, results like these will give the players and management some belief that they are still alive in this relegation fight.
There is a lot of football still to be played this season and if the Baggies can produce more performances like the one they produced on Sunday then there is a decent chance their fortunes can turn around.
There was a degree of luck to Albion’s result as Liverpool missed a host of chances to extend their lead but the Baggies are certainly due a bit of good fortune this season.
In other West Brom news, some Baggies fans blasted one player for their poor performance against Liverpool.
