West Brom in January hunt for Premier League 23y/o who started on Saturday – report
West Brom have entered the race to sign Manchester United winger Dan James, according to the Daily Star.
The newspaper have reported on their website that the Baggies could make a loan switch for the 23-year-old, with Big Sam keen to add reinforcements at both ends of the pitch.
The Welsh international has started the last two Premier League games for the Red Devils but could be allowed to leave by Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.
There will be stiff competition for James, though.
Both Leeds and Brighton have had long-standing interest in the player, with both having played a part in his short career so far.
The Whites famously saw a move collapse for the 23-year-old, whereas Graham Potter was in charge of the Swansea side in which he broke through.
Sam Allardyce is keen on the winger and is prepared to offer him a chance for regular football at the Hawthorns in their survival bid.
West Brom definitely have enough wingers, but there is shortage of quality in that area.
The likes of Kyle Edwards and Kamil Grosicki have been playing with the under-23s more than the first-team, and have strong interest from the likes of Celtic and Forest to leave the Baggies next month.
That would then leave Big Sam with the likes of Grady Diangana, Matt Phillips and Matheus Pereira, so James’ pace would be welcome at the Hawthorns.
The 23-year-old has only made five appearances in the Premier League and would be guaranteed regular starts with the Baggies.
Solskjaer may want James playing in a mid-table side though, rather than scrapping for relegation, and that is something Big Sam must talk him out of – it won’t be easy.
