£400k-rated Championship attacker in talks with West Brom over January switch – report
Sheffield Wednesday attacker Josh Windass has reportedly emerged as a January transfer target for West Brom.
According to the Daily Record, Sam Allardyce is eager to add the Championship star to his squad during the January window and talks are already underway between Albion and the former Rangers player.
The report claims that any deal for Windass could cost around £400,000 in the new year.
Eager to add goals to his squad, a striker is likely to be at the top of Allardyce’s wishlist when the window opens.
A low bar for the Baggies
The report adds that both Bournemouth and Watford are interested in signing Windass, but with West Brom able to offer him Premier League football, the club would hope they are in a strong position to hold off any competition.
Windass has scored four times in all competitions this season, registering two assists along the way for Sheffield Wednesday.
It is not exactly the kind of form that screams Premier League potential, especially with the Baggies needing players who can come in and make an immediate impact.
Throughout his career, Windass has been known as an exciting talent within the Football League, but at 26, he has never quite fulfilled the potential that was once expected of him.
In 81 Championship appearances, Windass has only managed to find the back of the net 15 times in spells at Wigan and Sheffield Wednesday.
West Brom supporters may be hoping for a signing that is a little more inspiring as they fight bravely against relegation back to the Championship.
