‘Pathetic’, ‘Absolute joke’ – Many West Brom fans tear ‘awful’ player to shreds at HT v Leeds
Many West Brom fans have heavily criticised Romaine Sawyers after he scored an own goal in the first half of tonight’s game against Leeds.
Just nine minutes into the first half, Sawyers received the ball on the edge of his own box under little pressure from the Leeds attack.
The midfielder then decided to pass the ball back to Baggies keeper Sam Johnstone to recycle possession.
The only problem with this was that Sawyers decided to not look at where Johnstone was standing as the keeper had just strolled to the left of his goal.
Sawyers passed the ball into his own net rather impressively as he managed to keep it far enough away from Johnstone so the Albion keeper had no chance of stopping it.
It was dreadful and it immediately put the Baggies on the backfoot as Sam Allardyce’s side already faced a tough test against a talented Leeds side.
This is such a shame as Sawyers had an excellent game just a few days ago against Liverpool and fans were hoping he would perform again tonight.
Baggies fans crucified Sawyers on social media as they were left incredibly unimpressed with his costly antics.
One fan wants to see Sawyers relegated to West Brom’s under 23 side while another labelled the midfielder as a ‘clown’.
