Arsenal to welcome back two senior players for West Brom clash - report

Arsenal could welcome back David Luiz and Willian when they take on West Brom on Saturday, according to The Telegraph.

Both players have recent missed recent Gunners training sessions over Christmas due to feeling unwell.

Fears were raised when fellow teammate Gabriel tested positive for COVID-19 as the club confirmed that the defender will miss his side’s next two games.

According to The Telegraph, Luiz and Willian have now both returned negative COVID tests which means they should be available for their side’s tie against the Baggies.

This is the last thing that any Albion fan wants to here as Arsenal look to be over their poor form while the Baggies are still reeling from Tuesday’s 5-0 home loss to Leeds.

While Willian and Luiz aren’t Arsenal’s best players, having them back available will no doubt be a boost to Mikel Arteta during this run of congested fixtures.

Both players will be well-rested after missing their side’s clash with Brighton on Tuesday and the Gunners’ 3-1 win over Chelsea on Boxing Day.

The Baggies were torn apart by the Leeds United attack on Tuesday and the prospect of facing a resurgent Arsenal side will do nothing to improve the dour mood that is engulfing The Hawthorns.

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang is due a goal and Alexandre Lacazette has scored two in his last two games as Arteta looks to have his side scoring again.

After shipping five against Leeds, Arsenal’s attackers, including Willian, will be relishing the chance to have a go at the Baggies’ backline.

This is yet more bad news for Albion as Allardyce looks to have a job on his hands if he wants to keep Arsenal at bay on Saturday.

In other West Brom news, Sam Allardyce has been hailed by Rio Ferdinand after Albion’s draw against Liverpool.
