Reliable journalist: West Brom in talks to sign PL striker, player open to Hawthorns move

West Brom are reportedly in talks with Everton over a deal to sign Cenk Tosun, with the January window now open.

According to Turkish journalist Ekrem Konur, the Baggies are in negotiations with Everton over a deal for the striker.

Konur adds that Tosun is ‘warm’ to the offer, with the former Besiktas man currently out of favour at Goodison Park.

Tosun was one of the first names linked with a move to the Hawthorns following Sam Allardyce’s appointment, with the BBC’s chief football writer Phil McNulty among those speculating he could be his first West Brom signing.

Details about a potential deal for Tosun remain sparse at this point, but Konur suggests that the Baggies are going to sign the striker permanently.

A new striker is believed to be among Allardyce’s priorities for the January window, so if he can get Tosun through the doors early, that will come as a huge boost.

It should come as no surprise that the offer to join Albion has been well received by Tosun, who has endured a Premier League nightmare since joining Everton.

Now in his fourth season in English football, Tosun has made a total of 54 Premier League appearances.

Averaging just over 13 appearances a season, he has been stuck on the fringes at Goodison Park, with injuries and poor form hampering his time in the Premier League.

The opportunity to play regularly and try to get back to somewhere near the form that saw him score over 100 goals in Turkey is a chance simply cannot afford to turn down.
