View: West Brom can wave goodbye to Premier League if £400k deal is sanctioned

West Brom have somewhat been surprisingly linked to Sheffield Wednesday forward Josh Windass in the January window.

Birmingham Live have shared reports that Sam Allardyce is keen to bring the Owls winger to the Hawthorns this month in a deal that could only cost £400,000.

Alex Miller of the Sheffield Star has reported that talks are yet to begin between the two parties, but this link won’t seem to disappear.

This is one of the strangest links we’ve seen.

West Brom would be making a huge mistake should they look to bring Windass to the Hawthorns this month, no matter how much they need attacking options.

Albion need to learn from their summer mistakes. Cedric Kipre arrived from the Football League and has yet to feature in the Premier League, and they must bring in more experience this month.

Windass certainly isn’t the option.

The 26-year-old has made 20 appearances in the Championship this season, with 18 of those starts, and he has only scored three times.

Add to that his single assist, and he isn’t exactly shining. Windass has only averaged 0.6 key passes and completed dribbles each game according to WhoScored, and those stats are shocking.

West Brom and Allardyce don’t need wingers, and this would be a huge mistake.

Should the Baggies bring in someone such as Windass, even for only £400,000, they can wave goodbye to the Premier League.

The likes of Grady Diangana and Matheus Pereira are far better than Windass, and there is no need in bringing in a player who would just sit on the bench.

This would be an underwhelming signing, and more preparation for the Championship, rather than someone who can save our Premier League status.
